10/30/17

The day before...
Full day and night of heavy rain and now we're dealing with high winds.
Everything's soggy.
The good news is the timing, as this would have killed a Halloween display.
Fortunately, I'm a madman and have loads of leaves in bags and wrapped in tarps in the garage.  Our corn stalks for the porch are wrapped in plastic in the yard.

Not sure when the photo shoot will occur, as the sogginess is going to slow things down a bit today, so I might not post photos on Halloween morning as I've done in past years, but fingers crossed (as I tend to overreact and catastrophize).

The weather:  High of 54, low of 34 for Halloween.  I'll take it.
We'll definitely have the fire going Halloween night.

Wishing you guys a very magical and DRY Halloween.
And a huge HUGE thank you for following this blog.

Thanks.
It'll be a weird one, as the winds are supposed to stay pretty high all day and night today..so i might have to wait to take the night shots tonight in the early am...and the day shots early Halloween morning.

Hope the winds die and ground dries as much as it can... although it sounds like you'll be clear on the big day and surely a slightly wet, after-the-storm vibe is cool and dark in its own way.

Best of luck with the set up / photoshoot regardless. And Happy All-Hallows-Eve-Eve to you both!

it's ALL going to be Grand. NO worries.
the BEST works of art are the ones that "almost" didn't happen or involved a lot of struggle. look at the Sistine Chapel..SO much struggle..SO much perfect.

Good Luck!!! Hope the end result is everything you hoped/worked for.. : )

Was listening to KYW 1060 10 minutes ago, and it looks to be clearing out quicker than expected. Looking out the window, and starting to see blue!

Want to thank you and Bean for keeping the spirit alive year round, and loving the idea that a fire will be needed tomorrow night. I will be trick or treating with a 2 year old. Love being the author of his early Halloween memories! My jacko lids will be packed with cloves :)

I’ve been following this blog long enough to know that you’ve had more than a few weird Halloween’s, weather wise, and they’ve all turned out amazing despite it. Hope you get the display just how you want it! Happiest of Halloween’s to you and Bean!:)

Got nasty wind here too. Got three scarecrows leaning when I woke up but nothing damaged. Have off tomorrow so will straighten everything out to do my pics.
I should be the one thanking you for this blog. I have been flowing this blog for many years now (since the start?) , and it has given me LOTS of inspiration and enjoyment. Looking forward to many more..........

Hope all of the fellow Haunters have a wonderful, magical day and night. Looking forward to seeing many haunt pics.

I feel for you! I have been dealing with torrents of rain and crazy wind for weeks. I too wrapped my cornstalks...only to find when i opened them up and soggy mess...laid them out to dry but they really look rough this year..and we aren't expecting any rain..but crazy high winds...lovely.

We had a lot of rain and strong winds last night. Knocked a tree down across the road and people in town are without power. Hopefully tomorrow night will be much calmer. Spooky is awesome, treacherous is not.

taking a quick break from setup...dare i say it's my favorite year EVER? : )

high winds are really insane. The most powerful i've ever had to tangle with ...but it's going well...just slower than i wanted...

Thanks, all!

I have "a feeling" that it is gonna be awesome....and my intuition is almost always right. Not even going to mention our weather forecast here which has gone from bad to better to worst now.

Wishing you lots of trick or treat tots and some let up on the crazy wind.

Happy Halloween!!!!

Looking forward to the eventual reveal, whenever it comes. I'm sure it will be amazing!
I'm not sure what mine will be as I've gotten very sick these last couple days. Will give it my best shot in the morning. Might just be a scarecrow and some pumpkins.

Best wishes for a great 31st!

Glad you getting it accomplished thru high winds. We all have faith that'll be awesome as always. Thank God you don't do tombstones, you might get swept up and go sailing over PA!

Forecast here (WI) is cloudy with a high of 38. Octoberrrrrrrr. As a kid nothing was worse than Mom saying "It's too cold for just a costume--you have to wear your coat." Arrrggghhhh! Hope your weather is dry and the winds calm down. Eager to see what you've come up with this year. I'll add my own gratitude for your blog. I've looked at it every day for many years now. Best regards to you and Missus Rot.

Good luck with the photo shoot. Here is hoping for dryer and calmer weather for you - we are supposed to get snow for Halloween so I think we will have a fire as well.

Upstate NY is just starting to dry out. I picked up all my gravestones last night, so I wouldn't have to collect them from the neighbors yards. LOL Here's crossing fingers the winds stay mellow.

Fingers crossed and sending good wishes! These things seem to work out pretty good for you, so I hope it continues. We are actually having a brisk fall here in Texas with temps dropping into the 40's which is rare and AWESOME! So of course, this is the year I am buried in work and will be able to put the least amount of time into the yard ever. Figures... Still though, it's the best time of the year! Happy Halloween everybody!

Super pumped! I’m sure it will be awesome as always. You have inspired me to take my love of Halloween into yard haunting, so thank YOU for this blog. The storm only killed one string of lights and I wisely held back on putting any props out until tomorrow. Just have my pumpkins to carve now. Someday you will have to teach me the secret of not rushing right to the last minute, lol. happy Halloween!

Wishing you the happiest of Halloweens my friend...even if it is a soggy one. Been there. Been there way too many times (living in Vancouver). We've been blessed with perhaps the most beautiful run-up to Halloween we've ever seen in the Pacific Northwest. I wasn't sure I was going to do a display this year but the good weather pulled me back. I'm not breaking any new ground, but the pumpkins are aglow!!!

Thank you once again for being there, for your creativity, and for sharing yourself with so many of us that love this special night. We are the memory makers for the future generation of Haunters...the lovers of Halloween.

Good night Sir Rot...
